TUCSON - A 21-year-old man is under arrest following a confrontation with Pima County sheriff's deputies in Picture Rocks.
Cody Salzman faces one count of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer.
According to PCSD, Salzman's mother called 911 to report a domestic dispute with her son, stating that he had punched a hole in a wall of her home, then poured a flammable liquid into her vehicle and threatened to light in on fire. She also claimed her son was armed with a machete and had donned a ballistic vest.
Deputies also learned Salzman was armed with a handgun and vowed there would be a "show down" if they came to arrest him.
Dispatchers instructed the woman to leave the residence. She reportedly climbed out of a bathroom window.
The first deputy to arrive on at the residence, Deputy Chance Kennedy, found Salzman standing behind a pickup truck parked in the driveway armed with what appeared to be a rifle. According to Kennedy, Salzman took cover behind the vehicle and pointed the apparent weapon at him, prompting Kennedy to fire two shots from his patrol rifle. Salzman, who was not hit or injured, quickly surrendered at that point.
PCSD investigators later determined the object Salzman was holding was a wooden rifle stock without a barrel.
Salzman was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center.
