ELOY, Ariz. (AP) - Pinal County authorities say a Tucson man and a Sierra Vista woman have been accused in a drug case.
County sheriff's officials say 26-year-old Thomas Duke and 28-year-old Desiree Romero are being held on suspicion of possession of marijuana, transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.
They say Romero also is facing charges of possession of a dangerous drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and promoting prison contraband.
Authorities say Duke is on parole for forgery and identity theft.
The two were stopped Thursday on Interstate 10 near Eloy after a traffic violation.
Sheriff's officials say a search of the couple's minivan turned up 340 pounds of marijuana packed in 14 bundles and worth an estimated $272,000.
Authorities didn't immediately know Friday if either Duke or Romero had lawyers.
