TUCSON - Two teachers from the Marana Unified School District, Danielle Schroeder and Diane Swan, have been selected as finalists for the Arizona Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Circle K Corporation "Outstanding High School Faculty Awards Program," which honors outstanding teachers in Arizona.
Ms. Schroeder and Ms. Swan are both passionate teachers who have their own style of teaching and are both deserving of the "teacher of the year" award, which awards the teacher's school with $1000.
These two ladies are among seven other teachers from around Southern Arizona who are finalists for this award.
Ms. Schroeder was honored at a pre-game recognition ceremony at the Arizona men's basketball game on Jan. 3, and Ms. Swan was recognized in the same way on Feb. 6.
Diane is a special education teacher at Marana High School and has a talent of creating lesson plans that break down the curriculum and makes them suited for her students' individual needs. She is also a Girls Volleyball Coach and Boys Basketball Coach.
Danielle is a science teacher at Mountain View High School and believes teaching is more about trying to interpret the world the way her students see it and less of pouring knowledge into a person. Danielle is passionate about a rigorous academic environment where students are encouraged to take intellectual risks and strive for excellence.
The finalists will be honored at the 18th annual Outstanding High School Faculty Awards Banquet at the University of Arizona / Jim Click Hall of Champions on March 8, 2013. Here the Teacher of the Year will be announced.
