TUCSON - Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized nearly $2 million worth of drugs, four vehicles, a firearm, and arrested 14 suspects in connection with recent crimes.
On May 9, agents stopped a Cadillac near Patagonia, and arrested the driver and an illegal immigrant on suspicion of possession of a stolen border crossing card.
A search of the vehicle was done and agents found a handgun in the glove compartment.
Later that night, Tucson Sector agents discovered more than 2,800 pounds of abandoned marijuana near Pisenimo, Arizona. The drugs seized cost approximately $1.4 million.
On May 12, agents arrested two subjects after finding more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana inside a Ford van during a vehicle stop near Toltec, Arizona. The suspects, marijuana and vehicle were turned over to Pinal County Sheriff's Office Anti-Smuggling Unit for prosecution of narcotic smuggling.
Later that evening, agents arrested seven illegal immigrants and seized a vehicle near Topawa, Arizona. Two of the seven people were found locked in the trunk of the vehicle.
Wednesday, during a vehicle stop near Patagonia, Arizona, agents stopped a Mercury sedan and arrested three suspects after learning one of the passengers was an Egyptian national illegally present in the U.S.
All suspects are being presented for prosecution. The drugs, vehicles and weapon were processed for seizure.
