SAN LUIS, AZ - A U.S. citizen is behind bars and drugs he's accused of trying to smuggle across the U.S. -Mexico border are now off the streets.
It happened Monday in San Luis.
Customs and Border Protection officers flagged a man driving a Jeep SUV for a secondary inspection.
That's when a drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs underneath the cowl of the windshield.
Officers took it apart and found 12 packages of cocaine, 31 pounds in all, valued at $278,278.00.
Roberto Villareal-Suarez, 29, was turned over to U.S.Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security investigations.
