The following is a release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection:
SAN LUIS, AZ - A 50-year-old Mexican male was apprehended Saturday for attempting to smuggle nearly 38 pounds of methamphetamine into the United States.
Customs and Border Protection officers and a detection canine discovered the drugs, valued at more than $580,000, in the frame of a Ford SUV driven by Guillermo Eleazar Lopez-Rodriguez.
The drugs and vehicle were seized. Hernandez was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
