TUCSON - Numerous thunderstorms with heavy rain plowed through Southern Arizona on Friday.
August is starting off on a stormy note very similar to July. Most areas are ahead of seasonal averages when it comes to monsoon rain.
As of 8:30 p.m. there were just a few light rain showers occurring over Eastern Pima County and into Santa Cruz County.
Most of the region was rain-free and should remain dry for the rest of the night.
According to Chief Meteorologist Matt Brode, the 'monsoon high' is in a favorable position for the next several days to warrant at least isolated mainly late day thunderstorms.
