TUCSON - An active period of weather is likely across Southern Arizona beginning today and lasting throughout much of the weekend.
Ample moisture has moved into the State and a disturbance moving up from the south will act as a trigger to generate widespread soaking rain for much of the area.
Storms were starting to form as of 2 p.m. on Friday, and the coverage will expand well into the evening hours. Storm coverage will expand even further late Saturday and into Saturday night. The biggest impact will be locally heavy rain where up to 2.00" could fall in the spots hit the hardest.
Temperatures will be cooler and only top off into the low 90s for daytime highs on Saturday and Sunday.
