TUCSON - University of Arizona basketball fans are excited to see their team ranked number 1 in the nation.
"It makes a statement," Es Teran said. "And tells us that we're going to put our name out there, we're going to be number one."
UA beat UNLV to keep their undefeated record. They will almost definitely take the top spot after the win.
Ron Roman has been cheering for the U of A since 1995. He thinks this year's team is better than the team that won the National Championship in 1997.
"Way more talented," he said. "We're bigger. You have better shooters. I think we're overall way more athletic than the ‘97 team for sure."
People who were inside the sold out McKale Center said it was one of the best games ever in the arena.
"I've never seen a game that nobody left early," Shirley Kroot said. "This is the first time I've ever seen one where nobody left early."
Taira Newman is a freshman who has attended every game this season.
"This one was, by far, the funnest game that I've been to since I've been here," she said. "I'm looking forward to 3 more years here. I'm ecstatic."
