TUCSON-This Labor Day weekend, many Americans are taking a break from their job to relax with their family.
The majority of Arizona are only taking a short drive to their destination.
For Labor Day weekend, some people are opting for a "staycation" where they can still have a getaway but just closer to home.
The Salgado family lives in Tucson, and this Labor Day weekend, they decided to stay in town.
"We don't have to pack and drive hours. We only have what a 30 minute drive? Which was great," said Amy Salgado.
They said taking a vacation within driving distance, or what some call a staycation, is convenient and a cheaper alternative.
"It was something quick and not too tiresome," said Salgado."Everywhere we've gone has had wonderful deals. Really kid friendly, too."
According to AAA, more Arizonans are traveling within driving distance Labor Day weekend than flying.
They estimate about 83 percent.
Brad Arbaugh made the trip to Tucson from Phoenix.
"You don't have to travel far, so if you don't have a lot of vacation or don't have a lot of time to go on vacation, it's a great opportunity to take advantage of the low rates at some of the four star, five star resorts in the area and just be pampered," said Arbaugh.
It's a chance to unwind before summer comes to an end.
