The following is a release from the Tucson Police Department:

On January 6, 2013 at 11:19 p.m., officers from Operations Division East responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Quickmart located at 5860 E. 22nd Street.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male customer who had been struck with a baseball bat by the suspect. He had minor injuries as a result of the attack.

No one else wasinjured during the incident. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store and displayed a gun to the clerk. He threatened the clerk and demanded money.

He was given an undisclosed amount of money and left the store. A customer followed the suspect
out and confronted him in the parking lot. The suspect pulled out a baseball bat, which was concealedunder his jacket and struck the customer once in the arm. The suspect left on foot in an unknown direction.

The store re-opened at the conclusion of the investigation. At 2:01 a.m., officers responded back to the Quickmart after the clerk reported the suspect had returned and assaulted him. Upon arrival, officers learned that the clerk was taking out the trash when he was approached by the earlier suspect and struck in the shoulder with a baseball bat.

The suspect made it clear to the clerk that the assault was in retaliation for the police being contacted earlier in the night. The suspect then left on foot in an unknown direction. The adult male clerk suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

An extensive search was made for the suspect but hewas not located. He is described as a Caucasian male, 30-35 years old, 5'9" tall, 160-180 pounds, with red facial hair. He was wearing a light blue cap, black leather jacket and blue jeans.

Surveillance photographs are included below. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
