Coach Rich Rodriguez and the Arizona Wildcat football team are travelling today from Tucson to San Antonio, and will have a late afternoon practice at the Alamodome. The Cats are gearing up for the University of Texas San Antonio. The game against UTSA kicks off at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Normally, the Wildcats don't hit the field the day before a game. However, Coach Rodriguez says, he'd like his team to get a practice in at the Alamodome before the game itself. Playing indoors, in a dome, is a bit different, and he says he wants the team to get a better feel of the environment they'll be suiting up in on Thursday.
"It's going to be a big crowd, and it's supposed to sell out," says Rodriguez, "We're going up against a veteran team, so it will be a tough environment. We are going to prepare for it"
UTSA has a passionate home field, and scores of fans pack the Alamodome. It's certainly not an easy place for opponents to play. Last year, Arizona blew out UTSA 38-13 in Tucson. However, at times, the Wildcats struggled.
