PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a pregnant woman's baby was delivered in an emergency cesarean section after she was critically injured when the car she was riding in collided with a bus carrying 40 passengers.
Officer James Holmes says the 26-year-old woman's 7-month-old baby is in stable condition but her injuries are life-threatening. Police say she in a Suzuki Forenza driven by 36-year-old man around 10:40 a.m. Sunday when he ran a red light at 24th Avenue and McDowell Road and hit the bus.
Holmes says neither the man nor anyone on bus was injured, but a 1-year-old and 3-year-old in the car had minor injuries. Police didn't immediately release the names of those in the car or their relationships.
There were indications the man was distracted, but police are still investigating.
