TUCSON - After nearly three months of hearing inspiring weight loss stories from Southern Arizona residents, the time as finally come to announce the winner of Biggest Loser Tucson.
In all, our ten contestants lost a total of over 1,100 pounds.
To put that in perspective, that is the same fat content as 216,935 Oreos.
So who is the winner of Biggest Loser Tucson? Mark Inskeep! He lost over 300 pounds and is now a certified personal trainer.
"It just is an amazing feeling to have that recognition that you know other people have noticed the accomplishment and hopefully will be inspired by it," said Inskeep.
When faced with a health crisis, he had a Vertical Sleeve Gasterectomy.
After the procedure he took working out and eating right seriously.
"I think a lot of people get to the point where they are almost beyond the point of no return in weight loss. They think they've got so much weight to lose that there's really no hope and I hope that my story at least showed them that there is hope. That as long as you're willing to make the changes anything is possible," said Inskeep.
At his highest, he weighed 535 pounds. Now he weighs 213 pounds.
"It's just really amazing. If you had asked me to picture this two years in the future from where I started I would have thought you were crazy," he said.
He adds that he is proud of all the contestants.
"You know even though they aren't in front of the camera right now they're still winners they have made that commitment to themselves and to their health. They are all winners," said Inskeep.
For those who are trying to lose weight now, he offers a piece of advice.
"Stay focused. Never forget why you started this journey in the first place," he said.
Tuesday night is the live finale of NBC's Biggest Loser, featuring Tucson's very own Jessica Delfs.
