BISBEE - Bisbee is close to voting on a proposed ban on single use plastic bags.
The Bisbee City Council will take the final vote on the ordinance September 3. If passed, retail establishments may provide reusable bags at no cost or for a fee. Retail establishments will provide carryout paper bags for a fee of at least 5 cents. It is unlikely that the fee for a paper carryout bag will exceed 10 cents.
If passed, the ordinance would take effect April 22, 2014, which is Earth Day.
