TUCSON - The Pima County Board of Supervisors approved in a 4-0 vote to provide nearly $3.3 million to stimulate tourism on Tuesday.
Visit Tucson is designed to promote tourism, film production, business travel, sports development and marketing. Tourism plays a key role in the growth of Pima County's Economic Development Plan with an annual economic impact of $2 billion locally.
This year, Visit Tucson plans on working with Pima County to market events at Kino Sports complex, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios, Pima Air & Space Museum and the Titan Missile Museum to bring more visitors to the city.
"Revitalizing tourism is directly related to our economic well-being and we have backed that conviction up with the public funding," said Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry.
