Suspect in bomb scare may have to pay for police response

UPDATE: Tucson Police have arrested a woman in connection with the suspicious backpack. She is charged with creating a hoax, Tucson Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Widmer said.

The charge is considered a class 4 felony, Widmer said. The suspect, if convicted, would be required to pay the cost of the police response.

TUCSON - A behavioral health center and a charter school were evacuated Thursday because of a suspicious package found in parking lot.

Police received a report of the suspicious backpack at 1:36 p.m., Widmer said.

The backpack was found in the parking lot of the Nueva Luz Center, a mental health center operated by Hope, Inc.

The school's students were moved to Himmel Park on Tucson and Speedway.

Parents can pick up their children up from Himmel Park.
