TUCSON - At long last, Monsoon storms are in the forecast. Just not this afternoon.
A cold front passes north of the state the next few days, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. As a result, gusty winds up will be present today and tomorrow. Expect westerly gusts to 25 MPH this afternoon, increasing to 30 MPH Friday.
A Fire Weather Watch will be in effect Friday for most of Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties. Outdoor burning is not recommended in these areas.
Monsoon moisture slowly creeps north next week as high pressure positions near the Four Corners. Isolated mountain storms are possible Tuesday, with a slight chance of storms for the valley floors next Wednesday. Long range models suggest a daily round of storms are possible late next week.
