Camp Verde man accused of murder, dismemberment

FLAGSTAFF - A judge has ordered a Camp Verde man accused of killing a fellow Yavapai-Apache tribal member and dismembering his body to be detained pending his trial.

Mario Chagolla Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Dwayne Beauty.

According to a criminal complaint, Chagolla attacked Beauty earlier this month, stabbed him repeatedly, pulled out his teeth and dismembered his body. The complaint says Chagolla then burned Beauty's hands and teeth.

U.S. Magistrate Mark Aspey in Flagstaff ordered Chagolla held without bond Tuesday, saying evidence of his guilt is great.

Court document state that Chagolla claimed he was paid $750 to kill Beauty and had threatened witnesses.

Chagolla's father had called authorities to say he believed his 35-year-old son was involved in a homicide.
