Chilly night coming, freezing temps east of Tucson?

TUCSON - Parts of southern Arizona will see their first Fall freeze overnight.

Daytime highs this afternoon hit the low 80's in Tucson, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Sunny skies today give way to clear skies overnight, with most of the metro dropping to the upper 40's.

The southeast corner of Cochise County likely sees overnight lows tumble down to the low 30's, including Douglas. The average first Fall freeze for Douglas is November 3rd.

Gusty winds up to 20 MPH will be the main weather story Friday, as southern Arizona is sandwiched between a low pressure trough to the east and high pressure off the California coast. That area of high pressure eventually moves into the southwestern US by the weekend, with afternoon & evening temps warming up a bit. Expect ample sunshine and highs in the mid 80's Saturday through early next week.
