Monsoon 2013

Closing time for Monsoon 2012

TUCSON - The transition from Monsoon to Fall is underway.

A departing low pressure trough and lingering Monsoon moisture triggers isolated storms today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. The best chance of storms should be from Tucson, Nogales and points east. Due to the hit and miss variety of storms, today's Monsoon Prediction Index is at 2 out of 10 for the low risk of severe weather.

For the second day in a row, highs today will be in the 80's for Tucson. The last time Tucson saw back-to-back 80 degree days was May 26th & 27th of this year.

High pressure builds over the Great Basin the next few days, scouring out moisture and shutting down Monsoon 2012 for good. Tomorrow through early next week expect high temps in the low to mid 90's with mostly sunny skies. Expect some gusty winds up to 20 MPH during the daytime hours on Friday.
