TUCSON - The U.S. Marshals Wanted Violent Offender Task Force is on the hunt for Anthony Burroughs. He's wanted in connection with the murder of Juan Ruben Rodriguez back in 2000.
The victim's family broke their silence Friday about their loved ones tragic murder. Mayah Rodriguez says, "It was hard you know growing up without a dad."
Mayah was just 1-years-old when her father was killed.
Her Nana, Sandra Medina, understands her pain. "Every day I live with the pain you know, it like to me happened just yesterday."
Mayah has a message for her father's killer, "I don't want him to think it's okay for what he did because it's not."
Anthony Burroughs is accused of shooting and killing Rodriguez at a party on the west side.
According to the U.S. Marshals, Burroughs fled to Mexico right after the murder. They say he was there for a few hours before returning to Tucson. From Tucson, they say he fled to Phoenix where he caught a flight to Los Angeles and on to the Philippines. The Marshal's say this all occurred within 24 hours of the homicide.
Jennifer Rippey with Marshal's Office says Burroughs was shot during the fight. "We do believe somebody did assist him during his flight from justice."
88-CRIME is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The family is planning to hold car washes and other fundraisers to add to that amount. The first car wash is Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pep Boys at 6th and 22nd.
