Cold streak snapped, big thaw begins

TUCSON - The final frigid morning is over with. Let the warming trend begin.

Tucson dipped down to 24 degrees this morning, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. That makes the 5th morning in a row of temperatures at or below 25 degrees, good for the 8th longest streak of such temps.

Highs today rebound into the upper 50's with sunny skies. Freezing temps are likely overnight outside of the Tucson metro. Expect 60's and gusty east winds tomorrow as high pressure builds in from the Pacific.

Weekend highs hit the 70 degree mark, which is 3-5 degrees above average for mid-January.
