Cool weekend for the Old Pueblo

TUCSON - Chilled sunshine to start the weekend.

Expect highs in the mid to upper 50's this afternoon, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Mostly sunny skies today gives way to increased cloud cover tonight. Overnight lows should be a bit warmer versus the last few mornings.

A cold front clips the southern portion of the state early Sunday. There is a slight chance of an isolated shower or two, but the vast majority of the Sonoran Desert stays dry. Best bet for valley rain/mountain snow to wrap the weekend resides in the High Country.

Widespread freezing temps may occur by daybreak Monday and Tuesday, including Metro Tucson.
