Death of Arizona inmate called apparent suicide

FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - A state prison inmate serving a life sentence for the 2007 killing of a 17--year-old girl has died in what the Department of Corrections calls an apparent suicide.

The department says 22-year-old Todd Hoke died Monday at the Eyman prison complex in Florence.

Hoke had pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the killing of Amber LeAnn Hess after she went to the movies with Hoke and another teen-ager.

The other teen-ager, Nicholas Castillo, was sentenced to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

The victim's burned body was found in the desert off Hunt Highway, about five miles northwest of Florence.
