Deputies ID man killed by car Sunday afternoon

TUCSON- 48-year-old Luigi Marrottia died Sunday afternoon after being struck by a car at the intersection of West Ina Road and North Shannon Road.

Pima County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Chris Nanos says Marrottia was walking across southbound on Shannon Road, when he was struck by a car heading eastbound on Ina Road.

Nanos says the 50-year-old driver of the car did not see Marrottia until it was too late and collided with him in the intersection.

According to Nanos, the car had a green light at the intersection.

Marrottia was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
