TUCSON-A deputy was shot in the leg during Saturday night in a Circle K on the corner of Wetmore and Romero.
"I was just really shocked and stunned that I was just in there," said Laurel Buzard who lives in the area.
The Pima County Sheriff's office told News 4 Tucson Deputy Jesus Davila was responding to a call about a suspicious man with a weapon when this happened.
"They spoke briefly and then a struggle ensued," said Deputy Tracy Suitt.
Suitt said 41-year-old Alvin McBride then pulled out a gun and shot Davila.
"They put their lives on the line everyday and for somebody to shoot them while they're in a Circle K is absolutely ridiculous," said Buzard.
Deputy Suitt said Davila then continued to struggle with McBRide until they ended up on the floor.
"Where he continued to struggle with him and was able to grab his weapon and fire and fatally wound him," said Suitt.
Deputy Davila was taken to the hospital, but was released Sunday.
