TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a dispute in a Tempe mall's parking lot escalated into a shooting that left one woman with a minor injury.
Police spokesman Michael Pooley says the shooting in the Arizona Mills mall lot around 6 p.m. Saturday started out as a dispute between 20-year-old Voyee Smith and other males described as being in their late teens or early 20s.
Pooley says Smith and another person began exchanging gunfire at a time when the lot was nearly full.
A bullet grazed one of the arms of Smith's girlfriend.
She refused to be taken to a hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
The shooting's cause is under investigation.
The other suspects haven't been located.
Smith was taken into custody.
It's unclear whether Smith has an attorney.
