SAN LUIS, AZ - A 47-year-old Mexican man was arrested Thursday for attempting to smuggle more than 22 pounds of meth into the United States.
Customs and Border Protection officers referred Rodolfo Huerta Ramos, of San Luis, Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico, for an inspection of his Chevrolet sedan when he attempted to enter the United States. After a narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs inside of the vehicle, a routine x-ray inspection confirmed the contraband. Officers located 22 packages of crystal meth inside the rear quarter panels.
The drugs and vehicle were seized. Huerta was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
