TUCSON - A duplex fire sent a woman to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with smoke inhalation.
Fire crews responded to the area of the 4600 block of East Duncan Street about 3:45 after someone called 911 to report smoke and flames.
Fire crews encountered heavy smoke when they entered the building. Due to the lack of visibility, the ladder crew went to the roof and cut a hole to allow the heat and smoke to escape.
Crews inside the building put out the fire and checked for any possible hotspots.
It took nine units and 23 firefighters twelve minutes to bring the fire under control.
The cause is not yet known.
