TUCSON - Tucson Fire Dept. is investigating the cause of an early-morning fire near Broadway and Pantano that forced two people out of their apartment. It happened around 2 a.m. in the 8000 block of East Broadway.
The fire began in the bedroom and when fire fighters arrived they had difficulty getting in because the room was overflowing with possessions. Once they entered, they found some of the contents on fire and extinguished the flames but had to "deal a large amount of residual smoke due to many of the of the contents smoldering."
One of the residents - a man in his 40's got some minor burns from trying to extinguish some of the flames before TFD arrived. His mother - a woman in her 70's was not hurt. Both were assessed by medics at the scene.
