MARANA - Golf fans turned out in droves Monday to try and catch a glimpse of their favorite pro at the Accenture Match Play Championship at Dove Mountain in Marana.
Eddie Peace and his two friends took the week off from work. He got several autographs Monday morning, "just get in there and try to get a spot. Hopefully they choose your banner and sign it."
Halle Kibby said she, her parents, brothers and sister have come out to the course for the last three years. The 11-year-old said she enjoys getting autographs, "Ernie Els is my favorite. I hope I get to see him." She said strategy is important in getting autographs, "we shout their names and put out our hats.put our hats out really far so they can grab them."
And for Sally Witonis who flies in from Maine for the tournament, her strategy is being near children, "because they are magnets," she said. "They are golfer magnets. They always do it for the kids so i'm right there to take advantage of it."
