TUCSON - Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting - believed to be gang-related - which took place at an apartment complex overnight near Speedway and Dodge.
While details are limited, Tucson Police Sgt. Chris Widmer said that officers responded to the shooting and found a man, who has not been identified yet, with gunshot trauma. He died at the scene.
"There was rapid gunfire. I would say like seven or eight shots back to back... I think it was right behind the complex," said Amanda Clay, who lives at the apartment complex.
"After all the gunshots went off there was a masculine yell and I don't know if it was anger or what but it was not any words or anything... it was just emotion," Clay told News 4 Tucson.
Neighbors told News 4 Tucson that the area is known for a lot of drug activity while detectives believe the shooting was gang-related.
"There seems to be a lot of attention here," said Viola Lujan, who lives a block away from where the shooting took place. "When you tend to see a lot of cops, that's where you seen them at."
Detectives are in the early stages of the investigation. If you have any information that might help detectives in this case, call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
