TUCSON - The calendar says October, but Mother Nature's still in a Summer mood.
High pressure parked over the West Coast cranks up the thermostat this week, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Daytime highs starting this afternoon top out at or near 100 degrees. The best chance for triple digits in Tucson looks to be Tuesday through Thursday under sunny skies.
Of note, if Tucson hits the 100's one more time this year, we will crack the top 10 list for most triple digit days. The Old Pueblo has hit 100 degrees or higher 73 times this year.
Cooler temps return heading into late week, as high pressure retreats into Mexico. Highs Friday into the weekend top out in the low to mid 90's. The average high for this time of year is around 90 degrees.
