WASHINGTON (AP) - As the Senate nears a vote on a Democratic measure that would increase the federal minimum wage, Democrats and Republicans are grappling on the Senate floor over which party is truly helping American families. Democratic leader Harry Reid said for millions of American workers, today's vote is "a matter of survival." Republicans say raising the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour would be too expensive for employers and would cost jobs. Supporters are expected to lose today's vote.
