In less than four days we'll have our Fit 4 '14 challenge winner but the lessons we're learning from our Amped Fitness trainers, Bryan and Jayson, will surely last well beyond this competition. The numbers are going to be close as Porkchop and Shannon are proving to be incredibly tough competitors. They've been working hard in the gym these past six weeks and cracking down on their diets to maximize weight loss. John and I have also been battling hard, powering through every workout Bryan gives us, and putting in some extra hours outside of our regularly scheduled workouts to make the most of this amazing opportunity.
We can all see the physical transformation in one another. We're leaning out and replacing fat with muscle. Even though the scale doesn't always reflect a big change, we can definitely feel it in the way our clothes fit and the way we train. John and I have especially noticed how much stronger we are. For example, this week I celebrated doing push ups from my toes instead of my knees, and using a lighter resistance band for pull ups. I've also become more confident when it comes to lifting heavier weights. All four of us have our own mini milestones each and every workout, and THOSE are the true measures of our success.
In the end, getting fit isn't a six-week process. It's not a six-month process. It's really a lifelong process, and something we'll have to continue making a priority long after our final weigh in. As Bryan and Jayson say, it's about becoming the best possible versions of ourselves and it's exciting to see the progress along the way. So, regardless of who "wins" the challenge, the journey has already been rewarding. Bragging rights are great, but living strong, healthy lives is even greater.
