TUCSON - A fundraiser for the University of Arizona's Museum of Art, Beethoven at the Tucson Symphony and Jim Carey and Steve Carell do their 'magic' at the box office... all in today's Arts & Culture Guy.

Here's Herb Stratford.

The annual "Fresh Paint" fundraiser for the University of Arizona's Museum of Art brings together new artwork, an appreciative audience and a chance to help one of Tucson's oldest art institutions.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, March 16 will feature work by over 160 artists, who donated their artwork in support of the museum and it's mission. The ticketed fundraising evening will also include live music by the Gabriel Ayala Trio. A special preview show on Friday, March 15 is free and open to the public at the museum, and is a great way for potential bidders to pick out their favorite pieces in advance of the gala.

The Tucson Symphony Orchestra will perform Beethoven's Symphony number 6 on March 15 and 17 at the Tucson Music Hall. The program also features guest soloist Markus Groh who will perform Bartok's Piano concerto Number 3 in a debut performance and Rossini's famous composition, The Thieving Magpie.

The eighth annual Encaustic Invitational exhibition is currently on display at the Miles Conrad Gallery, located at 6th Avenue and 6th Street. The show features the works of 18 different artists who work in the unique medium that combines wax and paint. The show is on display through April 27.

Now here's a look at this week's new movies:

When veteran 911 operator, Jordan (Halle Berry), takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl's life. They star in 'The Call'.

"The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" stars Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi as long-reigning headliners and one-time best friends Burt and Anton, and Olivia Wilde as their glamorous magic assistant, Jane. Alan Arkin stars as old-school illusionist Rance Holloway; James Gandolfini as casino mogul Doug Munny; and Jim Carrey as the team's number one rival, Steve Gray.

David Copperfield, the world's most successful magician, served as a special consultant and also appears in the film, as himself.
