Gabrielle Giffords appears in gun control ad

In the first ad to come from her super PAC, former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords urges the public to "get this done" and stiffen gun laws.
The 30-second spot will air in Washington and media markets reaching the constituents of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Poltico reports.
The ad aims to build support for universal background checks for gun buyers. The ad comes right before President Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday.
