Giving Thanks for the Kitchen Cops

TUCSON - This week we're giving thanks to the Pima County Health Department for keeping the eating establishments we dine at safe. Unfortunately, they once again found a buffet of violations.

Coco's received two critical and six non-critical violations. A cook was observed cracking eggs and then handling kitchen ware. A cook was also seen blowing in to a glove then putting it on. Kitchen items were found with food debris on them. All violations were corrected with the inspector on site giving Coco's, at 7250 N. Oracle, a "Good" rating.

Shot In The Dark received 3 critical violations. The kitchen was described as lacking a basic standard of cleanliness. Utensils stored as clean were observed splattered with food and black grime. Food items were stored above the required maximum 41 degrees with tuna and chicken tested at 50 degrees. All violations were corrected during the inspection earning Shot In The Dark, at 121 E. Broadway, a "Good" rating.

Restaurants receiving excellent ratings include Joe's Crab Shack, at 410 N. Wilmot Road, Jax Kitchen, at 7286 N. Oracle Road and the Coffee X Change, at 2443 N. Campbell Avenue.
