Governor signs bill encouraging eighth graders to continue their education

PHOENIX - Gov. Jan Brewer signed a bill that is intended to encourage students graduating from eighth grade to pursue further education. Rep. Catherine Miranda proposed the bill.

HB 2501 will allow schools to conduct ceremonies to honor students being promoted from the eighth grade.

The bill will go into effect in 90 days after the legislative session has ended. "I want to thank Gov. Brewer for signing this bill and the legislators who supported it. This new law will help encourage our children to pursue higher education," said Miranda.
