Gusty winds, high fire danger for Mom's Day

TUCSON - Gusty winds and warmer temperatures return this weekend.

After a few day break the temperatures will be back in the low 90s today across Tucson. In advance of a cold front our winds will also pick up this afternoon from 10-20mph with gusts to 30mph.

The cold front will move through the Four Corners region on Sunday dropping the temperatures a bit but cranking the westerly wind gusts up to 40mph in Tucson. Blowing dust may become a concern for those problem areas along I-10 near Picacho Peak and the Willcox Playa so keep that in mind for any Mother's Day travel.

A Fire Weather Watch has also been posted for Sunday as the high winds combine with dry air. This will likely turn into a Red Flag Warning meaning any fires that do develop will have the potential for rapid and erratic growth.

High pressure builds over the West Coast by the middle of next week driving temperatures to near triple digit levels for the first time this year in Tucson. Check out your True View 4 extended forecast here.
