TUCSON - Strong spring storm system hits Southern Arizona.
High winds, valley rain and mountain snow make for a rare late April day. Tucson International Airport recorded the first measurable rain in 55 days even though it was only 0.02".
According to the National Weather Service Tucson office a 0.50" of snow was reported atop Mt. Lemmon. Heavier snow fell in Northern Arizona with the Flagstaff area receiving 3-5".
Strong winds accompanied this storm system with the highest reports coming in from Cochise and Graham Counties where gusts peaked between 50-60mph. TIA had a peak wind gust of 44mph this afternoon.
This strong cold front will make its exit tonight leaving behind lighter winds and cooler temperatures. Parts of Cochise County will wake up to the 30s Sunday morning with a forecast low of 49 degrees here in Tucson.
