Gusty winds will soon ease up

TUCSON - Strong weekend winds will begin to relax.

Peak wind gusts across Southern Arizona have reached 40-50mph in places like Douglas and Safford, according to Meteorologist John Patrick. A High Wind Warning is still in effect for portions of Graham, Greenlee and Cochise Counties until 8pm this evening when winds should slowly start to calm down.

Wind gusts peaked at about 30mph in Tucson this afternoon. Combine that with the dry air we have in place and the potential for high fire danger still exists. A Red Flag Warning is still in effect for Southern Arizona until 8pm.

The system that is bringing these strong winds will begin to push east for Sunday and the winds will be more manageable in the 10-20mph range. Temperatures in the mid to upper 70s under sunny skies will wrap up the weekend.

The 80s are back in the forecast starting on St. Patrick's Day and it looks like that's where they will stay for most of the upcoming work week. Check out your True View 4 forecast by clicking here.
