TUCSON - Mostly quiet for the Monsoon this week.
Enough moisture remains over southern Arizona for a chance of isolated storm today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Storms this afternoon will be west of a Safford-Sierra Vista line, developing around noon and tapering off after 9 PM. High temps today top out in the 100's for the Tucson metro.
Today's Monsoon Prediction Index is at 3 out of 10, indicating a low threat for severe weather.
High pressure anchored over the Colorado Rockies imports drier air from the east beginning tomorrow. This serves to shut down storm chance for the valley floors Tuesday through Thursday. Expect some gusty winds Tuesday afternoon and high temps at or around 100 degrees for mid-week.
Monsoon storm chances return to the forecast late week, thanks to more moisture moving up from the south and a Pacific trough.
