TUCSON - News 4 Tucson viewers ask frequently about dog-friendly hiking trails in southern Arizona.
Today's "Hittin' the Trails" shows off three of the best hikes to bring your four-legged friends.
The premier pooch hike in the Old Pueblo is the Agua Caliente Trail. Whether your dog is big or small, this trail takes you to some breathtaking views and a dog favorite.
After two miles, the trail reaches an area called Cat Track Tank, which is usually brimming with water.
Another hike dogs live is the Marshall Gulch Trail atop Mount Lemmon.
It's an easy 1.3 mile hike also featuring water and great flora like pine trees and wildflowers. Add in temperatures 30 degrees cooler than Tucson and you've got the makings of a perfect hike.
And if your dog doesn't mind a little car ride, check out the Bog Springs Trail in Madera Canyon. This is a moderate hike, with a narrowing, rocky trail. It's also a world-renowned birding destination, and you are advised to keep dogs leashed at all times.
