MOUNT LEMMON - For desert dwellers longing for Fall, it's a 45 minute drive away from Tucson.
Fall foliage is at its peak atop Mount Lemmon, but only for a limited time. Here are four hiking hot spots to catch the colors high up in the Catalina Mountains.
MT. LEMMON TRAIL
The Mt.Lemmon Trails can be found by UA SkyCenter. Aspens are a plenty, glowing in gold and flanking a rocky steep trail. This out and back trek nets roughly four hours, so plan ahead for a moderate hike.

ASPEN DRAW TRAIL
Further down the mountain is the well hidden Aspen Draw Trail, by Sky Valley. Its trailhead lies between a Ski Valley wood fence and guardrail. Hikers descend down to where maples make their mark. This is an easy hike, good for the whole family.

MINT SPRING TRAIL
Summerhaven is a popular leaf peeping destination. The little known Mint Spring Trail sits at the end of Carter Canyon Road, home to shimmering aspens and colorful ferns. Along with the colors is a little bit of water, making for a high reward hike.

Past the village of Summerhaven is Marshall Gulch. The flora and fauna is easy on the eyes. The hiking's easy too.
Hikers are out and back within 90 minutes, but a longer hike can be had if you do the entire Aspen Loop.
