TUCSON - We're "Hittin' the Trails" with a program aimed to introduce kids to the great outdoors.
Sabino Canyon is the site for Tucson Parks & Recreation's KIDCO Lizard Walk. It's a chance for kids 5-11 years old to get in a hike, stay active and let the desert be a classroom.
"Sabino Canyon is a great place for lizards. There are 17 different lizards in the canyon, but depending on where you go you'll see some and not others because they rely on altitude and they have their niches", said Bill Kaufman with the Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalists.
Tuesday is the last day for the KIDCO Lizard Walk, but it will resume next June. Registration for this class opens up next April. Click here for more information from Tucson Parks & Recreation.
Heads up for weekend warriors planning to hike Ramsey Canyon south of Sierra Vista. The Nature Conservancy tells News 4 Tucson flash flooding from Monday's Monsoon storm washed out a trail, closing the canyon. Crews are hard at work and plan to re-open Ramsey Canyon early next week.
