MESA - Authorities had to rescue a horse and buggy from a Mesa canal after an accident sent the cart into the water. Fire officials say the man driving the buggy and the horse both escaped injury in the accident yesterday afternoon.
They say the horse was "keeping its distance" from a car parked along the canal when the buggy's wheel caught and tumbled into the water.
The rider got out of the cart before it went in; firefighters freed the horse from the cart and walked it through the canal to an area where it could exit.
