TUCSON - Monsoon storms once again taking the day off from the Old Pueblo.
High pressure over southern Arizona leads to the hottest day of the week, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Tucson reaches 104° this afternoon under partly cloudy skies. Areas south & east of the metro stand the best chance of isolated storms.
Today will mark the 52nd triple digit day of the year in Tucson. On average, Tucson reaches 100°+ 62 times in a calendar year.
High pressure begins to move north by late week, allowing for isolated storm development to return to the metro. A mid-level disturbance may help trigger better storm chances this weekend, with highs dropping below the century mark.
