FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. (AP) - Officials at Fort Huachuca in southern Arizona say an area near the Army base is closed to all personnel because of increased bear activity.
They say the Huachuca Canyon will be closed until further notice for safety reasons.
The gate at the mouth of the canyon is currently locked to prevent vehicle access, but the closure also applies to hikers, bikers and runners.
Fort officials say the canyon is being monitored by our environmental personnel.
It will be reopened when they determine the bears have moved on and no longer pose a risk to recreational users of the canyon.
